October 2015

October is among my favorite months. The turn of the seasons which kicks off the Holidays, crisp air, etc.
Although I'm not sure how I fill about the whole last week being a Halloween fest, its still so fun.
We've had a great month! And here are the highlights

We had a rather large playdate with Sydney's friends and Brigham wasn't about to miss out on the action.

"This is how I roll. I eat what I want, when I want."
Really, this kid eats like a bird so I'm so happy when anything goes into his mouth.

I've been struggling this year with spending time with Sydney. She's my buddy but since Brigham has become such a challenge I don't focus enough on her. Brigham's nap time is really the only time I can get anything done but its also when I could focus on Syd. I guess I'm just selfish cause I usually plop her down in front of the TV and focus on all the things to get done. I kind of hate it.
One day during lunch, Sydney asked if we could play house. She said, "lets pretend you're the mom and I'm the daughter. I'll do this and you do that." I was so confused because we just kept on doing exactly what we already were doing but she seemed so much more content. Every once in a while, she'd say something to me in a more "pretend" voice and I'd answer. Say the word "pretend" or "play" and suddenly normal things become abnormally fun!

We have a lot of play dates with Kolby. He's one of Syd's only friends who isn't in preschool. They get along so well, its great! Once day we got to watch the middle schoolers at Swope do their Color Run.

General Conference weekend. Always so challenging. I'm usually so angry because I want to listen and it seems impossible with all the chaos of kids. We finally just decided to be realistic and asked the kids to listen sit and listen to one talk. Which they did, and listened well.
But after a difficult Saturday, we just decided that after their one talk on Sunday, they could go play in the play room. Total game changer! Doug and I got so much more out of it after that.

During the priesthood session, I took the kids to Hobby Lobby. The girls brought some money to spend- which is a big deal because they are very frugal. It took them about 20 min to pick out a few pieces of felt. Brigham, on the other hand, was all about the fuzzy balls and managed to sneak two packages into my cart.

We watched the last session on Sunday with the Jorgensen's. So fun to have family around.

This kid is so active. I'm so grateful for the open fields we have across the street, we try to take advantage of them as often as possible. Its great when he can just run free, and twice the fun when there are geese to chase.
Playing at the park during Paige's soccer games.

Doug scored this train table at a garage sale for $5!
Leah and Sydney play together quite a bit, its so endearing.

Hello cutie!

Woohoo for fall leaves!
Our realtor, Aaron, had a customer appreciation day at Ferrari farms. We got in for free, including all the activities, free lunch, and each girl got a pumpkin.

The corn maze ended up being huge and a bit confusing. The girls started getting concerned so we made our way back to the beginning and didn't complete it.

This kid discovered the tractor and the true boy came out.
Ryan and Amber's family came for part of our fall break. We love any time with them!
We went on two hikes- one to the 'N' and another up Donner's Summit. We played at the park, went to the bounce house, played outside, biked to the park, and even found time go on a date. The date was so fun. We went out for Thai food, went Zombie hunting, and rode the mechanical bull. There's always so much laughter with Ryan and Amber.

And this cute squirt has decided to wake up at 5:30 lately. It doesn't always make for a happy mom but at least I can get a little bit of quiet time with him in front of the TV...and he's just so cute doing it.
During break we spent some time at the Children's museum. Brig loved it and I had to chase him a lot.

Cheering on Ammon at his Regional cross country meet.

We found a house decorated in so much fun for Halloween. We called this, "Hot August Nights meets Halloween."
Sierra was over one day and got the girls all fancy for a photo shoot.

And not to my liking, Brigham loves coloring- anywhere and everywhere.

This was Laura's text to me right after General Conference. Total LOL!

And here are some fall scenes I had to capture around our house.
