Leah started taking off her own diapers and saying "yucky mommy" so I figured we should revisit the potty training. She was super excited about it this time and did so well. She wore her "elmos" (her elmo panties) a day and a half and then decided to give up. She screamed every time I mentioned the potty and actually let me put the real diaper back on. No candy was incentive enough. So we're back to square one. Anyone have any pointers? I'm thinking I'll just put the potty and revisit it yet again. Oh how frustrating.
While it lasted, Leah was very cute. As she was going potty, Leah would put Zoe in time out or instruct her on how to go tinkles. Too bad their friendship didn't last very long.
On a better note HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We were so lucky to have Doug home more than we thought the week of New Years. We made a trip out to Montauk Point, which is the very eastern tip of Long Island. We got in a lot of relaxing, brought in the New Year at 8 pm (midnight in cape verde) with some good friends, Doug and I went on a date (thanks Heather), and I kept the Jensen tradition alive to shop all day New Year's Day. Although I wasn't gone all day and I didn't have my mom and six sisters but I found a lot of great steals and it was fun to shop without my little ones- thanks to Doug.
I'm excited about 2009, a lot of chaos in the future but it'll be fun (chaos will have to be blogged about later). Enjoy the pics...
Leah blew so hard into these blasted party favors, I thought she'd pop some blood vessels in the very act. Come to find out, hers had a flaw so here's the flawless one, she was loving it.
On the way to Montauk, we passed through most of the Hamptons (East Hampton, South Hampton, etc), which is dead in the winter. The area is very cute and classy. They have done a great job of sticking to theme in all the architecture. Our favorite parts were the BMW dealerships, Tiffany's, Gucci, and all those other essentials that you find out in the middle of nowhere. We did go mansion hunting but found that the huge shrubs in front of the house/estate were planted on purpose.
Doug takes great pride in his Dutch heritage so the windmill shot was a must.
It took a little over 2 hours to get the the point, where this lighthouse is (which was commissioned by George Washington himself) but it was closed, along with the museum. It was so cold and windy, we got out of the car, took some pictures got back in the car. It was still neat to see and our hearts went pitter-patter at the sight of waves and the Atlantic.

I love the pictures of Paige and her oreo stealing. So funny. I am glad you got a day shopping-with no kids! That is so nice.
The bare bottom approach worked for me and just letting Rachel take control. She would scream every time I asked her, or would even say the word potty. I was expecting her to go a lot more than she did. Turns out she only goes twice a day. And she knows when she needs to go. Good luck!
oh potty training! it really is different with every child, i'm sure, but i just said we're starting today and never turned back. i put calvin in his undies and would ask every 30-45 minutes if he had to go potty. sometimes he would scream and not want to so i wouldn't fight it. he had LOTS of accidents but eventually (about 3 days) he got it. oh, and i also made him help me clean up the mess. that's just what worked for us! good luck. i had a couple days of almost giving up but if you're ready to do it, do it!!
natasha still has my pottytraining books if you want to borrow them. other than that I have no advice to give. potty training is lame
potty training sucks
to get my baby potty trained
