It's Official!

I just signed up for the Pumpkinman Triathlon. It takes place on Sept 6th and is up in Maine. I've wanted to do a triathlon for three years but instead I gave birth twice. My friend Anne just did her first and she also has two kids, that was all the inspiration I needed.

Our downstairs neighbors, the Webbs are doing it with me. I can't wait! I'm a bit nervous, especially about the swim but it'll all be good. It's a sprint distance, which means: 1/3 mile swim (in a pond), 14.2 mile bike, and 3 mile run.  WAHOO- Bring it on!

I was going to sign up for one in Sept too but I was practicing the swimming part and when bystanders thought I was drowning when I was actually swimming I thought, ahh, maybe some other time! Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

Amber, that sounds like so much fun. especially in maine. We just signed up with Jeff's family to do one here locally next month. It's a sprint too, but it seems like our distances are a little shorter. At least the bike. i can't remember. lately i've been trying (mostly unsuccessfully) to embrace the messiness and unpredictability and chaos of motherhood. I think some people are born loving it (like my sister syd) but i've really got to work at it. Have you read any of the august ensign? there are a few good articles about parenting.

Wow! Way to go. I'm a little jealous at your bravery. That sounds awesome. I wish I was in Maine with you to cheer you on.

Woo hoo! I really wish I was brave enough to do that. I would love it. I am so excited for you and cant wait to read about it in September!

Ok, I just read your parenting problem post and I know you already have a ton of comments about that too, but I seriously just wanted to cry for you. I SO understand! Cooper still wakes up at least once a night, wont go to sleep until 11:00 and is up at 6:00! And he is nuts, probably because he doesnt get much sleep! I am so sorry Amber! I hope it gets better for you and ha, I have a friend with no kids who always has all the answers and I am like, gee, I have tried that.and that and that.

Amber, you are one of the last of the pioneer women. Fame and fortune doth know not the resplendent enthusiasm I would have, (given the opportunity to participate), in a trial akin to the one you will undertake. We're stoked and wish we could be there too.

Thats awesome, Amber! I'm training for the Air Force Marathon on Sept. 20th, and could use any advice you have to offer. Didn't you run a marathon in high school? Craig and I are taking a quick trip the last week in September (after the marathon) and are tentativley planning on coming to NYC for a day. I need your email address so I can bother you with questions... =)p.s. I love reading your blog because you are so honest about everything. You're not the only one who struggles with parenthood, and gets very annoyed by unwanted advice (especially from inlaws in my case.) =)
