With school getting out so late in June and then back to back family reunions in Utah, we were ready to settle down a bit for the month of July. A few days after we got back from Utah, Reno got some huge rain storms, which resulted in flash floods. Since our yard is all slanted towards our house, all the water came rushing to the sun room- and it started flooding. Long story short- Doug was at Home Depot to find the part to repair the leaking floor when he saw a pocket door for our kitchen. And then as a snowball effect goes, we remodeled our kitchen. So we didn't do much settling down after all. But we cranked it out, got it done, and somehow had a good time in between.

| Paige made this jump rope. She's a constant craft machine. |
| That's some good rain. |
| The flooding that started it all. |
Since we were living in a construction site, we had to get out of the house a lot. Some days we had to get pretty creative trying to find things to do.
| Shopping at T.J. Maxx. These girls are going to be great shopping partners. |
| Emmaleigh's company SURFAIR came to the Truckee air show so we got to see her for a bit. |
| So with all the construction, our lives, schedules, eating habits, etc. were turned upside down. I started to go a bit crazy. One day I was fed up with my hair and just got some scissors and chopped it off. It was a bit of rash decision but I guess it explains my mood for the month. |
The day the workers were tiling our kitchen, we found ourselves at the Sparks Marina. This was the first time I've seen Brigham so excited in the sand. Although I was disgusted because the beach was covered with goose poop and the whole area smelled.. But hey, the kids were happy.
| Leah and Paige did a two week art camp and I was so impressed with their work. |
Brigham has started wrestling and being more aggressive with the girls. Especially Sydney.
| In our desperation, we have stooped to placing Brigham in his highchair, putting something on the ipad and leaving him there for as long as he'll stay. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty about it he's one busy guy and this buys me a little bit of sanity. Not to mention, sometimes its the only way we can get him to eat. |
I feel like we've been making up for lost time/opportunities this summer. The girls have never taken any kind of swimming lessons. And of course I was late in the ball-game looking into it so the only available option was semi-private lessons at Caughlin Club. It was much more pricey than the city run programs but so well worth it. With only five lessons, both girls learned every stroke except for the butterfly.
| And this cute kid has taken a liking to accessories. Our in-house MJ! |
I started feeling a bit guilty about the fact that our kitchen remodel was taking every ounce of time and energy so we pulled it together one afternoon to do a craft. Thank you pinterest! And I love these crazy gals!

| I don't know why, but for some reason, I was feeling a bit of adrenaline to actually complete something, since our house was full of loose-ends. Only a year late but I finally finished Brigham's stocking! Woohoo! |
And we ended the month with a weekend in San Francisco, paid for by a medical supplies company. Doug had to go to a training Friday night so the kids and I walked around Union Square and did some shopping. It was so fun to be in the city with them. And I can't lie- I love shopping with them...but I think they have some expensive taste!
| We stayed right in Union Square! |
| Watching the trolly turn around. |
| We had to find a bathroom and Bloomingdales was the best option. We walked in and the girls were like, "Oh, who would ever put black and white tile on the floor!" Then we checked out some purses. They picked out the cutest one and we asked how much...only about $5000! YIKES! |
| Brigham wasn't as excited about shopping but quite content taking in the scenes of the city. |
On our way back home, we stopped for a few hours at Six Flags. This was our first and last time to go on a Saturday...so crowded. But fun, none-the-less. And Brigham was big enough to go on a few rides...which he was unsure about.
| And Leah continues to be our little daredevil. This time she and I went on the Boomerang. I think we both got whiplash, it was a blast holding her hand and screaming together. |
