Leah's second "First day of School"

Leah started kindergarten again this year. Holding her back one more year turned out to be a great thing for her, and for us.  She was excited about her first day but three days in decided school just isn't her thing. She's put up quite the fight the last week- leveraging all sorts of privileges, etc. But this year she has to stick with it. Again- I hate that is is all day.
We were really looking forward to the school year because she was registered for a free charter school that was just opening. Turns out all the funding didn't go through so a few weeks before school started, we found ourselves registering for public school. The good thing is that all the close [good] schools are full so they sent her to one across town. I pass three, yup- that's right- three, elementary schools to get to hers. Oh and did I mention it's the largest elementary school in the district? Over 700 students! Is that good?

I've tried my hardest to put on my happy face and just be positive, I have to endure for one year.
But in the mean time, I feel pretty empty with just two kids at home.

She is just so cute

Paige really wants to go to school too...next year! I can't believe it.

That is crazy. I can't believe they can force you to go to a different school. If you live in the boundaries of a specific school you should be able to enroll. I can't imagine how annoying/frustrating it must be to drive past the other schools to get to her school. Sammy too had a hard time this year. We had 2 weeks of tantrums every morning. It is getting much better but there are still days he says he doesn't want to go. He says it is too long!!! I hope Leah starts to love it!!
