A Bunch to blog about

It's always sad to see visitors go, especially Grandma. Leah reminded me the whole way home from the airport that she already missed her Grandma so much. I'm really missing her today, having someone to talk to and someone to play with my kids while I sleep in/exercise/grocery shop, etc. Then having someone to go on adventures with. My mom is so much fun and always up for anything.

We visited the Please Touch children's museum in Philadelphia and Grandma decided she was officially ripped-off that these museums weren't really around for her as a child and when she was raising her own children. It was her first visit to a Discovery museum and it was so fun to watch her, she was totally giddy. With reason, this is one of our favorite museums.

Leah and Paige's favorite part is the Grocery store. It's got everything.

Even Sydney got to enjoy more this time!

Alice's wonderland...all so cute!

The coolest part of the museum is that it is in an amazing building. It was the sight of the first Worlds Fair in the US, the summer 1876 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of signing the Declaration of Independance . My mom learned everything she could about the building. I found it interesting that some of the most popular exhibits were root beer and ketchup, along with Graham Bell's telephone and the typewriter.

Saturday, we got to enjoy a day with Doug- way to infrequent around here. We headed back up to Philly for more historical enrichment. We hit up the Independence mall: Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Ben Franklin Court and printing press and more. I'm so happy we have the chance to explore this area of our country!

The room where the delegates met and eventually signed the Declaration of Independence. Such a remarkable spirit in this room! So grateful for our founding fathers!

This one gets herself dressed and puts up a fight about it. She really wanted to wear her church coat, and didn't want to admit she wasn't warm enough in it. Silly girl.

The court room in Independence Hall. Leah took interest in the tour, mostly b/c we let her take as many pictures as she wanted.

Sight of the first supreme court

I absolutely love this picture.

Leah and Paige got baking kit from Grandma, they baked brownies, corn bread, and a cake. Leah cracked her first egg and it went everywhere- wish we had had it on video.

Grandma got to witness a lot of "firsts" from Syd: pulling self to a stand, sitting her self up from lying down position, babbling- of course she says "mamamamama"

My favorite four people! Aren't they all cute?

Amber,

i am trying to be better about posting comments, instead of commenting to myself and moving on because I am realizing that it is almost the only interaction that I get with my cousins anymore. I love reading your blog and seeing the pictures of your beautiful kids. I love hearing the real side of being a mother and I am so grateful for you. Love you guys so much and I love learning so much about your family when I don't get to see them ever! Love you!

I can't believe how grown-up Paige is looking these days. I thought, for a moment, she was Leah with a haircut! So cute!

Grandma's are the best. And isn't awesome to have some one watch kids so you can do normal things like sleep and exercise?

Amber - you have inspired me to blog more - well actually first, to take more pictures. I love it when Grandma's come to visit. It just seems that Moms know what their daughters need without asking. Whenever my mom comes it seems like she helps out more than she'll ever know. I really hope we get to come and visit before you leave the East coast... so much to see and enjoy. Your girls are so cute. Your kids and our kids look so much alike - well, in that they all have blue eyes and are blonde!! Too bad they don't get to hang out much. I hope you can adjust after the post grandma blues (I usually get them!!).

This makes me even more excited to come visit! I could just picture your mom and her giddiness.
Your family is so adorable, I still think it's the coolest thing in the world (well one of them) that you and Doug got hitched, 2 of my most favorite people ever. Thanks for doing that, guys.
