The not-so-nice-side

So I think I do a pretty good job of not complaining about NYC. I do like it and knowing that my time here is only temporary helps me realize I've got to take advantage of it. HOWEVER, today definitely solidified why I don't want to stay...

Leah had a casting in the city and I was told her time was from 3-4 pm. At 2 it started pouring and in my prego state I didn't want to battle the storm all wet (fold up the stroller for the bus, carry a wet stroller up the stairs, etc.). So I made the terrible mistake of driving in. Here are just a few of my "favorite" things about driving into the city:

1. You have to cross a bridge = congestion!
2. There are no turning lanes = congestion!
3. Either from 7 am- 7 pm, or from 4-7 pm, you can't turn off of certain streets = frustration!
4. Cars double park, especially trucks that have to unload = cars cutting others off!
5. People honk their horns before the light even turns green = cuss words in my head, eventually out loud!
6. Parking is, um, like $12/30 min = rip off!
7. The muni-meter signs only apply to certain times of the day (when no one wants to go there) or enough room for one car = more driving and a repeat of the above six things.

So I had a bad experience today but to top it off, as I'm driving around, Leah's agent calls and says they're quiting early and we didn't even get to audition (I was early, she called at 3:05- how do you shut down early when it's from 3-4?)

Ok, so I'll take a huge leap off my soap box. The whole point of this is that I really dislike who I become under these circumstances. I think I'm beginning to understand why there are so many crabby people here. I never knew this side of me- I guess I know what to avoid in the future! I'm interested what things bring out the not-so-nice sides in others.

Oh Amber, I totally know what you mean, reading that made me so frustrated for you! I'm sorry. I get all crabby when people wake me up when I don't want to be woken up. except Benton, maybe it's cuz we're still newly weds? :o)

Amb, Hi. No, Anna hasn't had little Milly yet. I really need to call her, I'm such a bad friend! Yeah, I don't know how we saw those scary movies either, I am SUCH a wimp! But, You really need to read twilight! I liked it so much I started re reading it the day after I finished it. Here's an idea, I get the book on cd's so I can listen while I'm cooking, cleaning and working out, it's great! It's really not scary, you'll love it. Hope you're doing well and not driving as much.

Amber K Jensen alive. Now you will understand why people say I turn into "NY mode". On occasion when I am walking or driving and am cut off I revert to my ghetto Ny lingo and throw out phrases like "I'm walking here" "Hey, bozo open your eyes". I love NY, but I dont love the things about it that make me a ghetto girl. I sure love you, and I wish I was there to make your time a tad more fun. Hang in there, it will make you strong!!! Jenn

Amber, I love when you vent at the world and let a little "Randall Paul" venting out of you. Thanks for sharing. May all of the double-parked trucks and people who close up shop at 3:05 pm fall off a cliff. - Ryan
