Oh Christmas Tree

The week before Thanksgiving we went with some families in our ward to cut down a Christmas tree. It was kind of a funny experience because we thought it would be just a few hours and it ended up being a full day thing. We drove two hours away to get a Pinon pine. Going in was an adventurous four-wheeling experience. Our van never would have made it so we all crammed in the Jamisens suburban.
A long story short, we didn't have reception and got home two hours after a baby sitter was supposed to be at our house. Luckily, we still managed to get a date and saw the last of the Hunger Game movies.
The Almond's had all the trees on their trailer and just because life happens, we didn't end up getting our tree before leaving for Utah.
After a long fun-filled and tiring weekend, we were not in the Christmas mood.
Luckily we have children that are so excited and cute that could help us catch the bug.
Sydney was my little Christmas Elf that helped unpack all the boxes.

Doug came home from work and took all the kids to the Almonds to carry home our tree. I really wish I had gotten a picture of them all bundled up walking down the street with a Christmas tree.

We also decided to change up tradition this year and open Christmas PJ's at the beginning of the Christmas season so they could wear them the whole month...they were elated and rather cute if you ask me.

Leah's year to put the start on.

I'm not sure if we'll go with a Pinon Pine again, they are very prickly and have kind of weak branches. But they have that pine smell and have character.

Doug and I have been pretty low on sleep lately, Brigham has been waking up every night for the last three weeks. Last night he actually slept through the night. And of course, about 3:30 am I woke up to a huge crash. In my haze I was confused and scared. I woke up Doug (who sleeps through everything) and we went to check things out....to discover our tree on the ground. Water everywhere, ornaments shattered etc. We picked things up as quickly as possible, leaned the tree against the wall, then went back to sleep. Nice!

The kids loved the four-wheeler's. As soon as they saw these, their interest in finding a tree was lost.
