Halloween week

Halloween lasted a week for us. I've never been so anxious to be done with a Holiday. We started it out by going to a community event at Reed High school where Kristie and Ammon were performing. It was such a fun night and we loved watching their group perform 'The Nightmare before Christmas.' They were awesome. The girls came home with so much candy! Then two days later, the Jorgensens watched our girls so we could attend the High Priest group dinner. The girls lucked out because it was the Jorgensens' ward trunk-or-treat and carnival. Again, they had a blast and hauled home more candy.

Leah and her friend Molly, who joined us for one of the carving days.
Carving pumpkins was a multi-day event. We had so many pumpkins and this is the first year we let the kids carve their own, so it took a bit of time but it was fun to see them use their creativity.
Syd and I carved her pumpkin together and she was so excited about how it turned out.
All of the pumpkins lit up on Halloween. Paige did two, a "jack-o-latern" and a princess. Leah's is the big one, half Frankenstein and half vampire

All ready to go trick-or-treating.
The two nights leading up to Halloween were full of festivities too. One night we went to their school Halloween bingo night. This was a highlight for the girls because they went through their first Haunted House. They were terrified but extremely proud of themselves.

The night before Halloween was our wards Trunk-or-Treat and soup night. Again, they brought home way too much candy. So much that I didn't even purchase some to give away to those who trick-or-treat at our house.
We couldn't find the kids after the trunk-or-treat. They had made their way back in the church and were digging in to their goods.

Aunt Heidi let Sydney pick out a costume for Doug and I. Of course she picked Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. It was a bit embarrassing to be honest, but the girls loved that we dressed up. And of course I didn't get a picture of the whole family together...dang!

I got to volunteer for Paige's class Halloween party. Sydney came in costume and joined the kindergartners on their costume parade. Lucky us, we found Leah in the first grade wing!
Since we were lacking on fun, we met up with some of our playgroup friends at the park for a special Halloween picnic.
It was pretty cold outside but all three girls were determined to keep going. Again, they made a haul and came back to watch some Michael Jackson's Thriller with me.
Sydney had been Rapunzel the whole Halloween season but after being cold at our ward Trunk-or-treat she announced she was going to wear the monkey because it was warmy. She was a cute monkey..again.

The girls ate a lot of candy and then put the rest in a bowl for the candy fairy to come and take away that night. In the morning, the candy was gone and both girls got $7. They decided they wanted to exchange it for money so that they could buy a rainbow loom kit. I so wish we had taken a picture of how excited they were to purchase it at Michaels the next day.
