Strawberry Fields

We get 48 hours with Doug when he comes home on the weekends so we try to make the most of our time together. The girls and I cleaned all day Friday so that we didn't have Saturday chores to do. It was great motivation for them.
Saturday morning Doug and I both decided to do "easy" long runs so as to not take up most of the day- doing long runs back-to-back easily takes up most of our Saturdays.
We both did 10 miles and were done before 10 am!

We headed out to one of the u-pick strawberry farms. This was a first for the Doxey clan. When we got out of the car Paige immediately inhaled and said, "It even smells like strawberries!"
We seriously couldn't have asked for a better day, it was perfect! And it turned out to be an educational adventure for the girls as well. We heard the lady next to us say, "Go get more money from your mom, I've only got $40. We need more." Wish we could have taken home $40-worth!
On our way home we stopped at a local event for free lunch. Can't beat that!

We ended our afternoon with a family woofal (I don't know how to spell this word!) ball game. This has become one of our favorite family events. We love watching Paige sprint around the bases, while Leah just decides to skip them and cuts across to base she wants.

Doug and I even got to go on a date! Chick-fil-a (high budget) and The Avengers which we loved!
I love every second with Doug. We laugh so much together and just have a grand old time.

Give me some berries!

Los Doxey's

Look at those beautiful fields...and the peeps are pretty darn good looking too!
Syd got in on the action and was LOVING it!
Oh baby!
Strawberry shortcake. We added brown sugar due to my cousins praise for it...perfect touch.

Sunday afternoon, the girls put on a tea party for us in their playroom so we decided to serve them for dinner. We made menus and tried to treat them like honored guests. Doug put on his Italian/Spanish accent.  Since Black Bean Soup was on the menu, Doug appropriately named it Cafe La Tuitte. Paige was annoyed with Doug's accent and felt kind of silly but Leah loved every second of it and tried to act all prim and proper.

I just love watching Doug get into things like this with his girls.

Nacho appetizers at Cafe La Tuitte

After the Cafe closed, we went for a family walk in the perfect weather, then came home and played Uno- Leah took home her first win! Our night wrapped up with a tickle war (where the soup from Cafe La Tuitte made an appearance).

Ahh, a perfect weekend (wish I had taken more pictures)!
Only two more weeks with Doug in Baltimore.
I. Can't. Wait!

I love that an easy long run for you two is ten miles. yeah right - that would be the longest run ever. As in I've never ran 10 miles in my life. Sad to admit. I was just feeling proud that I was running just short of 4 miles a couple times a week. You guys are awesome.
