What it takes to...

For our family to survive when Mom, Dad, and Paige have the flu followed by/accompanied with strep throat for a week.

  • 7 red boxes
  • 8 episodes of 30 Rock
  • 5 large gartorades
  • 6 trips to the pharmacy
  • 3 different anitibiotics
  • 2 bottles Theraflu
  • 2 doctor's appointments
  • @20 baths/showers
  • 5 gallons water
  • 4 liters Dr. Pepper
  • 1 prescription for Lortab
  • 100's of hours in 1 bed
  • 3 vacations days for Doug (yuck)
But what really helped us survive were the countless blessings
and tender mercies, some which are:

  • 3 Angles who brought in meals
  • 2 Angels who took Leah one day then Leah and Sydney (this is huge) another day for 7 hours!
  • 1 toddler named Sydney who was totally out of character and played all day by herself without climbing on the usual objects, getting into usual mischief. No doubt we were being looked after that day.
  • 1 five year old named Leah who constantly served us, who was patient when we were all sleeping and moaning, who without asking refilled our waters, woke up at 6:30 and didn't want to wake us up so she cleaned her room and the toy room, and who helped with Sydney continuously.

I hope to feel back to normal tomorrow.
I had a number of dreams about running and can't wait to feel good enough to get back out.
This has been one nasty week but we couldn't have done it without such great friends.
Thank you so much!

Wow - that is crazy. I am so sorry you have been so sick. With no family around - ward members/friends truly become angels!! We get that now that all the family has left us here in Viva. Leah is so sweet... she is the perfect oldest child. I can't believe she woke up early and cleaned her room. My boys would have left us sleeping but probably would have taken the chance to play the computer or watch TV. I am seriously impressed!! I hope you all get better soon.

oh NO! Nothing worse than when mom AND dad are sick! I am amazed too by the tender mercies we see in times like this, (and the good times too). the Lord knows what we need. And how sweet is that Leah? She isn't a little girl any more is she! Cache and I were sick this week and Ronin just kept coming in to jump on the bed and wake the baby. He is soooo not a sweet girl. How luck you are.
hope you are up to speed soon. we love you!
