My heart ache

Ever since we moved to Vineland, Leah has felt, and talked about, the lack of friends in her life. When we go to parks or places where other kids are, I watch her watching other children and I hurt for her. Sometimes, she's brave enough to ask their names and sometimes she's not so brave. We've been here over two months now and we still haven't met any friends, we're not sending her to pre-k b/c we can't afford the half-day options and all universal pre-k's are all day here, I'm not ok with that. So tonight, my heart is aching because tomorrow is Leah's birthday and she keeps talking about how all her friends are going to sing happy birthday to her, and when they come to her party, they can all sit on the picnic blanket to have cake and ice-cream. How on earth do I tell my little girl that she doesn't actually have any friends? I feel like no matter what we do for her tomorrow, it'll be a huge disappointment when it's just us singing to her. It's times like these when I hate the fact that we don't live by family.

Oh, Amber. This honestly makes my heart hurt as well. It's things like this that make me want to keep my kids so little and be able to protect them from life's bumps. I'm on the verge of tears just thinking of it. I promise I'll keep your little Leah (and you guys in my prayers tonight). I wish I could make it all better.

Heart breaker! We'll have to have Liza call her. But as Dan always says, "It builds character!"

I'm so sorry. We're moving soon and I think my Leah will go through the same thing. She's so shy and its hard for her to make friends and I am really worried about it. I hope things get better and that you're all able to make friends soon.
