And I'm really going to miss them.
This past Friday, I had one of those difficult mommy days- I'll spare the details but it includes poop everywhere, lots of laundry, etc. Doug came home from school (biked home in hot-humid weather) and got straight to his run. Once he was showered, he asked what I wanted to do that night, my reply was "I don't know- something exciting." So being the sweet guy he is, he told me to get all ready and we'd head into the city with the kids. As I'm changing the doorbell rings and Doug says my friends are here...Natasha...and Heidi (this isn't a typical at all). They announce that they're kidnapping me for the weekend-ish and I only have 15 min to get ready. Much to their dismay, I didn't squeal but in my defense I was caught off guard b/c I was going into the city with my family. I quickly put the pieces together- the last thing Doug wanted to do was go into the city after school, biking, and running! He was just nice and wanted me to be ready.
Anyway, so we had a great weekend without any kids- thanks to all the hubbies. We went to Panera Bread sans children, ate lots of yummy fondu, crafted, talked a lot, slept sans children, stayed up until 2 am (seriously so fun), went running together, ate more yummy food, and talked even more. It was such a great time and so refreshing. I have some amazing friends, they're all so smart and talented and great examples to me. I can't even explain how much I'll miss them.
This was probably the best salad I've ever had- it smelled so good and tasted even better.
Lunch on the balcony. So fun!
Kristy was a great host, she even made stamping "goody bags" for us.
I think I gained 10 lbs from this fondu- it was so worth it.

SO Fun Amber!! Hats off Dougalhine! Looks like so much fun!! So nice to get away every once and a while! Quite the chefs--I need recipes!
That sounds like so much fun. I haven't spent a night away from my kids...... well honestly ever. OK I'm wrong. When I was in the hospital I spent several nights with out them but that's by default right.
Sounds like fun!
Doug is such a sweetie to do something like that for you!!! Props to Doug! I'm proud of him.
Good friends indeed. Sounds/looks like a fabulous weekend. Nothing like some away time to get you going again.
