The Stretch

Another great thing to add to the list of perks to living in NYC is all the visitors. We have a stretch of visitors coming over the next month or so and I get to reap all the benefits. Doug's sisters Dorothy and Heidi came out as chaperones for one of their daughter's choir tour. Dorothy came early to stay with us and I've loved being able to hang out with her.  We've done  a lot of shopping, found a sweet bike shop in the city, spent a day in central park and had a nice run on the boardwalk at Jones beach. I found that it's necessary to go to the beach often or else Leah will regress b/c every time we go it takes her a while for her to warm up to the sand and water. Obviously the only solution is more exposure...a real sacrifice on my part.

Dorothy joined up with the choir tour Wednesday and I feel like I haven't had time to get anything done since then. It's funny how as a mom I feel so busy but then I can't remember what I did.  Paige is the cutest and happiest baby but is only getting worse with being alone. She and Leah are very different as far as levels of independence and Paige has a much more piercing cry, I'm kind of looking forward to her being able to move herself around. Anyway...

We decided to stop at KB Toys for Leah since she spent a boring day shopping with us.  Dorothy comes walking up to me carrying this huge box and says she'd like to buy a play kitchen for Leah.  It was rush hour and we had all these bags to carry home. It was pretty fun to take the train home and of course, Paige had a blowout on the train. I think it's become a trigger for her. This is a bad picture with the reflection from the stroller but this is how I get around in the city by myself.

We got this slide for our backyard and I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase. We had playgroup at our house on Friday and all the older kids got cold but Gavin and Leah played in the pool for almost 2 hours. We also had a family swim following a rather hot run Saturday morning. I'm sure this will provide a lot of entertainment this summer.

Paige will get in soon enough- for now, she enjoys watching all the action.

Hopefully these next pictures will provide a little comic relief- Doug has always cut his own hair and thought he'd try something new. I thought it looked great...so many options. And for the record, no, he's not balding.

I was so excited to put these in Leah's hair- surprising she was too. She looked super cute.

So fun - isn't Dorothy great. I am glad you got to have fun with her. I wish we were some of your upcoming visitors. Someday - right!?! How do you motivate yourself to go running - I can't seem to motivate my lazy self lately.

I'm so happy you posted again! It's fun to see the family! When I lived close to the City I alway found myself in Central park as well! I think I feel a little clostaphobic with all the buildings! Doug seems like such a good daddy! Those little kitchens are so much fun for little girls!

Your girls are so cute. I love sponge curlers. I can't wait to put them in Annie's hair.

You are wonder woman. I can't believe you ever go out in the city with two girls. One in the stroller and the other on your back?! Very impressive!

How fun to have so many visitors, living here we get none. So boring. Guess we should move to a sweet city like you did. I love all the pics, it looks like Doug has more fun on the little slide than anyone. and the new hair do is pretty stellar!
So, your bday is tomorrow! Yippee!

You are brave woman to tote those kids on the subway like that! You have to love backyard pools in the summer.

Doug, I like the intensity of your face going down that slide. However, I hate to break it to you...that slide is only 2 feet long. :)

Leah looks so grown up! Can't wait to see her again.
