I heart, I mean HATE, media

With today being super Tuesday, I am really glad that I have a blog. I guess I need to do more to get out and let my voice be heard, but at least I voted. In our so called "democracy" it's difficult to feel like your voice/vote even matters so for now, I'll just let it out here.

As I'm watching all the coverage about the presidential race, I'm realizing more than ever how much I hate the influence the media has on people- esp those who are less educated and believe that what they here is how it is. First of all, there is way less coverage on the republican side of things and I hate that it is obvious which republican candidate the media favors, I think that's wrong!

With all the heat between McCain and Romney, I can understand the concern with the lack of military experience that Romney has but my question is why does the media focus on that when BOTH the democratic candidates clearly lack military experience!

I felt very dissatisfied as I walked away from the polls today. I really wish that in the primary elections we didn't have to be registered with a party and that we could vote for one democrat and one republican. I kind of think it's stupid to say "I only vote one way or the other."

Anyway, I will never claim to be good with words or expressing myself but just wanted to get some of my frustration off my chest.

At least I can feel at peace with how things are going in the church leadership. As I watched the press conference of when they announced the new first presidency, I thought of the contrast between the election of the united states president and the calling of the church presidency. I sure am grateful for the spirit's confirmation and the comfort in knowing that these men are called of God and will never lead us astray.

I agree with you. You should be able to vote both republican and democrat. When it is going to come down to a candidate from each side we should have say on who each of those candidates we want. After all aren't we as a nation trying to achieve a "bipartisan" government.

Amen to Amber...I too felt similar feelings. People are just afraid that if Romney does become President and things were turned around they'd have to give us Mormons some credit.

I think it is best to register as "the other party" and vote for the lest likely candidate. That way you can beat the system! Long live the Republic!

Oh amber, I couldn't agree with you more, it makes me so angry sometimes, I almost lost sleep over it last night cuz Benton and I were talking about it and how politicians play so dirty. ughh!!! It's funny how different and rocky the world is compared to the peacefulness of the church. We're very lucky.

I agree with everything you said. I do see the reasons why you have to vote for only one side or the other but it'd be nice if parties didn't even exist. Also, it'd be nice if the entire election process could be shortened to a 2-month primary period where, in the end, you could vote for two people and then have a one month general election between the top two candidates. Then, the media would have at least less time to influence the process. Either way, the media circus is unavoidable.

Having said all of the above, I can't help but feel that Romney got screwed by a backroom conspiracy between McCain and Huckabee.
