All Girls

Doug was on call this weekend. His schedule has gotten a little better since coming back from Colorado and somehow he hasn't been on call since before then. He was called in Friday night around 10:30. I didn't mind, it makes me proud to hear him consult with the ER doc on the phone and then rush in to take care of the patient.
Yesterday he worked five hours, which still left plenty of time to hang out as a family- even got to take advantage of the warm sun and go for a family run/bike ride.
Sundays I just can't seem to handle his absence. I know most will agree with me that Satan must be working extra hard Sunday morning. Today I believe I sent a text to Doug that said, "If I were a single mother right now, it would be very difficult to stay active." I know terrible thought.
I realize that wives of bishops, high-councilmen, etc. deal with this every Sunday. Hats off to you. I'm apparently a Pansie. As I was running out the door with my three girls, I couldn't help but think what it would be like to have boys. To not have to deal with knots in hair, tights, girls who have the fashion sophistication of a teenager, bows and ribbons, etc. Are boys any easier to get ready or is someone out their playing a sad song on their fiddle for me? Just thought I'd ask...

Boys are SO much easier. Gavin has 2 pairs of church pants, one black and one grey, and 2 church shirts. He has black socks to wear and one pair of black shoes. It takes him 5 seconds to get dressed!!!! But your girls are so stinking cute, you wouldn't want to trade them in for boys who will inevitably start to stink when they are in their teen-age years.

Yep I think you are right. Since my little guys are basically bald towheads we don't spend much time at all getting them ready. You are awesome for being able to handle all of that alone!

Ryan is in the bishopric and I think the same thought every sunday. It would be SO MUCH EASIER to go inactive! I feel like I've run a marathon after church every week. I feel like it really shouldn't be this hard. We left church early for the first 6 months because either the kids were crying/uncontrollable or I was crying. Yikes. It got better though. Hopefully you'll get better at it too!

I hate Sundays w/o Chad. I usually am in tears by the afternoon. Our ward is at 8 which makes it even worse. I do have a solution for you...treat your girls like boys, don't brush hair or accesorize!

Jk...kinda :)

Boys are easier to get ready, especially if you buzz their hair like we do. BUT they are much more rowdy. Don't know which it worse.

And I don't know how you, or anyone goes to church with out their husbands. We can barely make it through sacrament together....
