It's almost been three weeks, but yes, the triathlon came and went. It actually turned into being a duathlon. Of course the whole week was sunny and beautiful until Saturday morning, so they cancelled the swim and we did a run-bike-run instead. I was totally bummed because the swim was the biggest challenge for me. However, it was all still tiring yet oddly exhilarating. My neighbors didn't get into the Pumpkinman tri in Maine so we ended up doing one in Madison, CT. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! Here are some pics...

There weren't too many kids running around. It made me feel like a tough mama.
Bad picture of me but just wanted to capture what our bike ride was like. A little slice of heaven.
As I came out of transition Doug cheered for me by saying, "Mt Bike Warrior!" I was one of the three people on a mt bike.
Can you tell I'm exhausted? This is the transition from bike to run. I think at this point I was thinking, "people who do these are stupid." Like I said oddly exhilarating.
I will add that I have A LOT of room for improvement in my transition times. I was all over the place. Those of you who have done tri's, just imagine: can't find my bike, forgot to get my bike shoes and gloves out of my backpack, can't figure out how to hoist the bike on the bar. I. was. pathetic.
This church was "gathered" in 1707 and still holds regular worship. We thought it looked a lot like the Navuoo temple. The whole race was through a beautiful New England town. Very fun.
We just signed up for a triathlon in New Jersey on October 4th- hopefully it won't rain that day.
These are old pictures but I just wanted to share how cute Leah was on her birthday. We decided to do a last minute thing at Chuck-e-Cheese with some of our friends. The great thing was that we didn't even need tokens because Leah thought the games were so cool- she didn't know the difference.
Leah gives the best loves and kisses. There's nothing better!
Bad picture but at least we caught it. Paige's favorite past time is falling. She hits her head about every 15 min. She's so determined.
Doug came up with this great activity, he pulls the futon mattress so it makes a "slide" for Leah. She asks for it everyday, she's been pretty brave and loves coming up with new ways to go down. After she does it once she scream "WATCH. MA MA WATCH."
Paige tries to climb up it too and LOVES going down.
Our cute little Leah.
This is a great shot, esp of Paige, and the fact that these are the three greatest things that have ever happened to me.
My friend and I went into the city together because we had doctor's appts back-to-back. We both have two kids. I don't think we'll do the doctors visits together again. Especially in NYC where it's quite normal to wait for one to two hours until you're seen. But it was still fun. Leah and Gavin are such great friends. They held hands almost the whole day. (thanks for the picture Natasha)

You rule. Was this a sprint or a full? I am going to do one after the marathon. You look great! If we lived there I would do one with you!
Props to you for doing a triathlon on a mountain bike. Impressive!
Your little girls are both getting so big--and so so cute.

Way to go on the triathlon!! What an amazing and tough mama you are! Though, I do think just riding the subway and going into the city with 2 small children is event enough.
Your girls seem to get cuter all the time, if that is even possible!
AMber you look so skinny!!! Congrats again on the race. Leah's hair is so long. And Paige looks just like Lilly. Cute Cute
Don't you love how kids can be entertained by the simplest of things. A futon mattress = hours of fun. Paige is sure growing up fast - she looks so cute with her big grin. I hope our girls looks like their cute girl cousins.
That was Heidi by the way. As if you couldn't tell.
Congratulations on the triathalon! That's so great!
Yeah, you did it!! That was a lot earlier than you were training for, right? HOw'd it go??
