Western states

One of the first things Doug was excited about upon learning of our move to Reno was the opportunity to be a part of the Western States 100, and endurance run that starts at Squaw up at Tahoe and ends in Auburn, CA. We hope to volunteer at some point and Doug would love to be a pacer (although I think he secretly wishes he could run the whole thing). This year we just went up to be spectators. We drove up to Forest Hills, which is around mile 60 and cheered on the runners. Doug was like a little boy living a dream. Some boys know everything about baseball or basketball players, Doug knows everything about ultra-runners. He was beyond excited.
I don't know who this is, one of the top five. We parked right next to the Ultra-Runner pod cast guy. Whom we listen to all the time. It was fun to chat with him. And he even turned to Doug to ask who some of the runners were.
We hiked part of the trail...simply majestic!
Brigham lookin' as cute as ever.
It was an emotional experience watching the winner come onto the track in Auburn. And here,Rob Krar, was overcome with emotion as he crossed the finish line. Only the second person to run the Western States in under 15 hours.
