Apple hill

One thing we have really missed about Vineland is the produce. Its good and its cheap.
We've heard about all the good produce that comes out of California so we decided to head over for some apple picking, we went to a beautiful area called Apple Hill where there is one farm after another. Doug found one that had a fishing pond. Leah got a fishing pole for her birthday and has been begging to go fishing but neither of us have our NV drivers licenses yet so we're unable to get a fishing license.
The day was absolutely perfect, we bought some yummy apples, apple donuts, apple cider, and local honey.

Doug teaching her how to cast and reel in.

So the pond has a rule that what you catch you buy. There is a $100 fine for throwing anything back. It is $9/lb. We fished for about 45 min with no luck. With five minutes until closing, a guy came and asked if we wanted to use his fishing pole that he had rented for the remainder of time. We said sure, why not? And murphy's law...we cast in both lines and immediately got two fish. Leah began reeling hers in and started freaking out as soon as she saw it flopping all over the place. She dropped her pole and ran away. Paige handed hers over to me and ran away as well. So Doug and I both reeled in our spoils.
And we came home with $22 of fish that no one really wanted to eat- oh and they charged $3 to clean it for you too! Good times!

The mohawk-geese
And of course, as we left the apple farm, just 1/2 mile down the road was a much larger, much cheaper produce market.  We purchased a few things, one of them being the crispiest and tastiest cucumbers we've ever had! Who would have thought?
Turban squash
Beautiful vineyards everywhere!
Eating the fish...not such a big hit.
