Packing up

Moving just can't be done by yourself. We are forever in debt to many wonderful friends who helped make the packing and moving process much smoother. Thanks to everyone who pitched in, including my wonderful husband and hard working children.

Tara and Nika were so sweet to help me sort through and price all of our junk for our garage sale.
Something that was completely daunting for me turned into so much fun with these two girls, and they helped a ton!
Cleaning the chairs before selling them, a hard task.
When purging, it's easy to detach yourself from things. I can't believe Doug sold his long board. And I think he started to rethink it as this man was buying it. They talked for a long time and we wanted to capture the passing of the board to a new owner.
Garage sales made more enjoyable with friends to hang out with.
Leah and Paige got so excited when items sold, and asked every time how much we made. Loved it!
Syd decided Garage Sales were just her time to shop.
We didn't know how quickly some of our furniture would go so we posted it on craigslist kind of early. Turns out we should have asked about $100 more on the girls'  bedroom set. It sold in one day.
....and so the girls slept on the floor for two months leading up to our move. It was novel at first and by the time we really packed up they were ready for some beds. But they were troopers.
We had a second garage sale the week before we moved, it purge more items.  We thought it was a good idea for the girls to do a bake- sale along with it. What was I thinking? So to add to the chaos of getting ready for a garage sale and move, I baked bran muffins, chocolate chip cookies, and five loaves of bread. Almost everything sold and the girls made 10% of what they made, so about $5 each. In the middle of the morning, they both decided selling stuff was too hard and wanted to quit but that wasn't an option. Once they got paid, I think a lesson was learned for the day!
I found a moving company that I thought would be a good deal. We packed everything and they loaded and moved it. So here we are the night before they were scheduled to arrive. I don't even want to talk about how wrong I was about it being a good deal.
Doug filling out so much paperwork to start his new job in NV and me sorting junk! Overwhelming on both parts!
I almost felt guilty that they were doing everything. Then we got the bill!
