Leah and Paige both had dentist appointments today. They were so good while getting their teeth cleaned. And they actually talked to the hygienist when she asked them questions- which is huge. They rarely respond to doctors or most adults for that matter. This was not their first time, but it was their first to a pediatric dentist. I was hoping it wouldn't be such a guilt trip. Oh, but it was. I knew they had decay. Leah has 8 cavities and Paige has 6- yup she's only three. Okay, so they have cavities. We brush twice a day and floss nightly (thanks to those great kid-flossers).
Both the doctor and the hygienist gave me a huge lecture about diet. They said both the girls look clean so it's not hygiene. Why do they have to make me feel like I'm totally uneducated and irresponsible. We're not drinking a lot of juice or milk. I don't buy fruit snacks except on trips. We eat pretty healthy. But according to the professionals, I need to make some diet changes...eliminate the sugar intake. Did she just say eliminate? Do you even have children? PBJ's, bad. Raisins and other dried fruit, bad. Homemade granola, bad. Well, at least I'll be able to drop that extra 10 lbs I've wanted now that we're going strictly raw from here on out. Six months down the road I'll most likely post about how my pediatrician reamed me out b/c my kids need more...glucose. You just can't win.

Oh man! I have TOTALLY had that same lecture!! Ellie had about a zillion cavities when she was ages 3-5. It is so frustrating. I was doing everything I could too... sometimes you just gotta say OH WELL... and keep on truckin! haha... but I do feel your pain.
We had the same problem. They told me to stop letting them have soda before bed. I was livid. Now we use the kid flouride rinse and didn't have any cavities last time. Worked for us.
